Pokemon Gold

Pokemon Gold is one of the greatest role-playing games in handheld history and a real milestone for the Pokemon series. It came out in Japan in 1999 and in the West in 2000.

The game takes you to the Johto region, where you catch and train Pokemon, collect eight Gym Badges and fight the villainous Team Rocket, which has returned. Gold added 100 new Pokemon, bringing the total to 251, along with a real-time clock with day and night, breeding, held items and two new types, Dark and Steel.

After beating the Elite Four, you can travel to the Kanto region from the first games and collect eight more badges. That huge amount of content makes Pokemon Gold one of the best games in the series.
