Donkey Kong Jr

Donkey Kong Jr. is the direct sequel to the original Donkey Kong, released for the NES (Dendy) in 1986. This time the roles are reversed: Mario is the villain who has locked Donkey Kong in a cage, and you play the little Donkey Kong Jr., who has to rescue his father.

The gameplay is built around climbing vines and chains while dodging enemies and traps. Hold on to two vines to climb faster, or one to slide down quickly. Drop fruit on the snapjaws and birds to knock them out.

There are four stages, and at the end of each you get closer to freeing Donkey Kong. It is the only game where Mario plays the bad guy, and a fun classic for a short session.
